Establishing the molecular bases of resolution of inflammation as potential therapeutic targets for chronic diseases

In many chronic conditions, sustained inflammation and impaired resolution are suspected as key components of pathogenesis. In this study, we will determine the molecular and cellular events in the resolution phase, and identify immunoregulatory cells and/or mediators involved in the resolution of inflammation. These results will raise the possibility of activating endogenous pro-resolution systems as potential therapeutic targets for human diseases.
