Utilizing University IP to drive innovation

JST's program to promote technology transfer and innovation through collaboration between universities—and other public-sector research institutions—and the private sector encompasses a broad array of bridging activities. These include promoting the pursuit of patents based on the basic research output—science and technology seeds (hereafter, "seeds")—of universities and the use of such research output; matching these seeds with the needs of the industrial sector; and supporting collaborative research and development (R&D) between industry and academia based on the IP and seeds held by universities.
