This Seminar was held at IIT Delhi on January 31, 2017 with the aim for Japan and India to open an epoch-making Science & Technology exchange through JST’s initiative.
CHIRP is based on a Japan-India joint statement created during the Japanese prime minister, Shinzo Abe’s visit to India in December 2015, and aims to become a symbol of a new bilateral cooperation through joint research in ICT fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and Big Data Analysis, while industrializing its outcomes within Indian society within 5 years via established Collaboration Hubs in India.
In this Seminar six Japanese and Indian Principal Investigators(PIs) of three projects, selected through JST/DST joint-call this August, in the framework of JST SICORP “CHIRP”, delivered insightful lectures to the audience on the essence of each project, whose profundity became clear through the Q&A session.
Additionally, we had the honor of receiving H.E. Mr. Kenji Hiramatsu, Ambassador of Japan to Indi, H.E. Mr. Takeshi Nakane, Ambassador for Science and Technology Cooperation from MFA of Japan, H.E. Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary of Department of Science, Directors of IIT Delhi and IIT Hyderabad, Vice Presidents of The University of Tokyo and Kyushu University, and a number of Indian younger researchers and students, who will bear the future of the exchange of Science and Technology between Japan and India.
