Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and Leibniz Association signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in May 2015.
As the first concrete activity, a joint workshop was organized on 20-22 June at Cancer Institute, Japanese Foundation for Cancer Research (Tokyo) in cooperation with Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED).
Healthy ageing was the theme of the workshop, and various topics were highlighted from mechanisms of cellular and organismal ageing to development of technologies to improve the quality of life and health in the elderly people. A networking reception was hosted by the German Ambassador at his residence, and opinions were exchanged to further strengthen collaboration together with high level guests from outside.
JST and Leibniz Association will continue to seek suitable modalities of cooperation, which lead to better research outcomes and higher impact.
