President Nakamura’s Visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

President Nakamura visited Kuala Lumpur from June 10 to 13. During his stay, he attended the Science and Technology in Society (STS) Forum ‘ASEAN-Japan Workshop for Innovation, Science & Technology Cooperation in Malaysia’ and paid a visit to related institutions where he had discussions with the concerned parties.

President Nakamura was appointed a Chair in Session II ‘Empowering Youth & Women’ and had highly active sharing of information and perspectives regarding the specific efforts on human development and difficulties of empowering youth and women in each country among learned individuals from ASEAN countries and Japan.

In addition, President Nakamura visited the Academy of Science Malaysia, ASM*, which has the STI think-tank function, implementing science communication, and supporting science and mathematics education. He exchanged good practices and challenges on these activities at both institutes and convinced that the comprehensive collaboration between JST and ASM can be extremely beneficial for both institutes.

While further development of Malaysia is anticipated, JST is aspiring to strengthen the cooperation with Malaysia as a STI partner.

JST, an integrated organization of science and technology in Japan, establishes an infrastructure for the entire process from the creation of knowledge to the return to the society. For more information, visit http://www.jst.go.jp/EN/
