President Nakamura made keynote speech
at Japanese-Polish Science and Technology Seminar

President Nakamura made the keynote speech "Innovations in Partnership with Poland" at the Japanese-Polish Science and Technology Seminar, held at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) on October 16. President Nakamura introduced JST’s activities as well as the research exchange that JST has made with Poland and expressed the will to strengthen the partnership with the Visegrád Four (Poland, Hungary, Czech, and Slovakia) in his speech. He also mentioned the possibility of cooperation between JST and Poland in the fields of science education and science communication, besides the implementation of collaborative research projects.

The seminar was hosted by the Republic of Poland Embassy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, GRIPS, and a large number of other Japanese related organizations participated in the seminar, and the staff of the National Centre for Research and Development as well as more than 10 researchers from Poland visited Japan and actively exchanged ideas in the seminar.

JST and Poland cosponsored the workshop on “Spintronics” in 2011 in Warsaw. In July 2013, JST also co-hosted the workshop on “Advanced Materials” with the International Visegrád Fund (IVF) and other organizations in Slovak and created the opportunity to exchange the information among researchers from the Visegrád Four and Japan. Expansion of the further cooperation between Japan and Poland is expected as a result of this seminar.
