Understanding of molecular mechanisms that govern pathogenesis of hereditary vascular diseases, such as primary pulmonary hypertension, is crucial. However, it remains to be elucidated whether genetic and/or epigenetic alterations of diseased vascular cells cause their pathogenesis. In the present study, I attempt to establish iPS cells from the patient samples, and analyze the in vitro differentiated vascular cells from the iPS cells. This strategy will enable us to identify the novel molecular targets for the therapy of the hereditary vascular diseases.
