Direct reprogramming from patients’ skin, without the step making iPS cells, to a desired cell type for the transplantation should reduce the time for waiting and eliminate troubles of immunological rejection. Trans-differentiation is thought to need activity of multiple genes at the same time, while there is no general method to determine them so far. In this project, I would develop a system to efficiently find a gene set for induction of any cell type.
