This project aims to promote sustainable development research in the field of environment and energy, bio-resources and biodiversity and disaster prevention to solve regional issues of ASEAN. The head office and laboratories will be set up in Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia for international collaborative research. Particular focuses will include innovative technology development of energy production from biomass waste, effective utilization of tropical plants and early warning systems for large-scale natural disasters and their applications. As the representative platform for science and technology between Japan and ASEAN, we promote networking of a wide range of research projects and disseminating their outcome to all ASEAN countries. We also aim to accelerate the social implementation of research outcomes by enhancing solution-oriented research on crucial issues of contemporary ASEAN and activating academic-policy dialogues in collaboration with international agencies and NGOs to contribute to sustainable development of Japan and ASEAN. | Kyoto University |
