They found a new hydroxynitrile lyase (HNL) with the highest specific activity toward benzaldehyde and wide temperature and pH stabilities from a millipede. Since the HNL is highly enantioselective in the synthesis of various cyanohydrins, it is expected as the next generation biocatalyst for production of R-specific cyanohydrins.
