The previous studies have demonstrated that senescence of adipose tissue causes insulin resistance by inducing adipose inflammation; however, the underlying mechanism is largely unknown. In the present study Minamino and colleagues have identified semaphorin3E as a key molecule that mediates senescence-induced adipose tissue inflammation. The results indicate that inhibition of semaphorin3E will be a potential therapeutic target for improvement of glucose metabolism in patients with dietary obesity.
