Research Outline

The aim of this research is to demonstrate ultrafast, high-efficiency electro-optic (EO) modulators and on-chip integrated opto-electronic circuits using active manipulation of optical and electrical signals at the nanoscale region by proposing organic-silicon hybrid technology which combines organic p conjugated materials exhibiting large EO effects with silicon nanophotonic platform. We develop a new opto-electronic hybrid technology for ultrafast and temperature-independent EO modulations of over 100 GHz, which are impossible to realize with existing CMOS photonic devices.
