Outline

The aim of this study is to improve crop tolerance to drought and flooding stresses as well as intermittent drought-flooding stress caused by global climate change, using quantitative indices representing root anatomical features which were identified from field study of wild species living in a variety of habitat with diverse soil water contents. To this end, genetic regulation of root anatomical features and molecular basis for root plasticity in response to environmental changes are addressed to reveal through the use of diverse sorghum genetic resources.
