Outline

Diverse crop stands incur less damage by pest insects in agricultural ecosystems; however, little is known about particular plant genes underlying such “associational resistance” against herbivory. The goal of this project is (1) to reveal molecular basis of associational resistance and (2) to design an efficient mixed planting based on functional genes of a plant species. To achieve this goal, I shall apply a genome-wide association mapping, transcriptome analysis, and image processing technique to Brassicaceae plants growing in the field.
