To replace precious metal catalysts, various functional materials composed of multiple, easily available components have recently been proposed. In some cases, the functionality of these complex materials cannot be explained by the simple additive effect (mutual compensation of the defect of each component). In this research, the origin of such synergistic effect will be investigated by combining the computational chemistry and informatics to accelerate the development of catalysts and to propose new catalytic materials.
