This project aims at enhancing product selectivity in oxidative upgrading reactions of light alkanes by means of “unsteady-state operation”, i.e. intentionally inducing periodic changes of reactive environment near catalyst materials and thus overcoming thermodynamically unfavorable conditions. Rational design of catalytic materials and processes will be facilitated by visual inspection and spectroscopic investigation of catalyst materials as well as gas-phase/surface species under reaction conditions.
