Outline

We have found that high-intensity surface electromagnetic waves can be generated on wire waveguides at sub-terahertz frequencies by using relativistic electron currents driven by ultrahigh-intensity short pulse lasers. The purpose of this study is to clarify the usefulness and limitation of the technique and to establish a power scalable, ultrahigh intensity, highly efficient method of terahertz wave generation.
