Outline

I will create a nobel nanoscale motor by enhancing and controlling optical force exerted on metal nanostructures with designed surface plasmons. The tailored distributions of plasmonic forces beyond the diffraction limit of light make various motions of nanomachines, which can be externally controlled by the wavelength, polarization and phase of light. Furthermore, the localized surface plasmon sensors allow a unique nanomotor to be passively controlled by its environmental change.
