Outline

The concept of “connectivity via auxiliary dimensions” is introduced for both understanding and manipulating the topological properties of materials. This concept will be applied to a wide spectrum of materials including quasicrystals, bi-continuous interfaces in soft matter, microporous materials, and topological states in quantum matter, thereby hidden connections between various structures and phenomena may be revealed. The present attempt could provide us with new guiding principles on the search of materials with novel structural and physical properties.
