Professor,Department of Biology,University of Washington

Stomata are microscopic pores on the surface of land plants for gas exchange and water-vapor release.

The presence of stomata is not only critical for plant productivity and survival, but also impacts our global atmospheric environment.

This study is aiming at unraveling the molecular and cellular bases of stomatal pattern formation through synergistic approaches of a model plant cell/developmental biology and mathematical modeling.
