Regulation of cellular function by controlling metabolites of protein aggregates in yeast
Abstract
Using a yeast prion system, I plan to reveal relationships between specific properties of distinct prion forms and cellular functions or phenotypes in prion strains. Based on the relationships, I will develop a novel therapeutic strategy for prion diseases by inhibiting prion inheritance. These studies could provide important implications for therapeutic strategies for other neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's diseases and polyglutamine diseases.
