Silicon Raman Laser using Photonic Crystal Nanocavity
Research Site Lecturer, Research Institutes for the 21st century, Osaka Prefecture University | |
Nanocavities in two-dimensional photonic crystal slabs have high quality factors and small modal volumes approaching one cubic wavelength. Therefore, they can enhance the light-matter interactions including nonlinear optical effects. Using the nanocavities, I will achieve silicon Raman lasers with small sizes and low thresholds, which have many advantages such as the low energy consumption, dense integration, CMOS compatibility, and operation at telecom wavelengths.
