Analysis on Floral Meristem Plasticity

Plants have higher regeneration capacity than animals. It is hence an enticing task to delineate the mechanism underneath the remarkable regeneration capacity of plants. Plants maintain the stem cell activity at roots, shoots and flowers.

We study meristem regeneration in Arabidopsis flowers by killing off a group of specialized cells that are important for stem cells maintenance, followed by scrupulous examination at the cellular and molecular levels.

By using live imaging, genetic and biochemical assays, we plan to describe the regeneration process in floral meristems and reveal unknown signaling molecules that coordinate stem cell activity in plants.
