In the developing mammalian neocortex, neurons are primarily generated from neural progenitor cells.

The research aims to illustrate a refined and integrated picture of the molecular machinery that controls neurogenesis throughout CNS development.

This will be achieved by in vivo gene transfer technique, analysis of mutant mice, and imaging of brain slices. Understanding of this issue will be a key step for exploring a new avenue for regeneration of neurons from neural stem/progenitor cells.
