Outline

We promote following researches for the synthesis and decomposition of ammonia, because ammonia is recognized as the prospective candidate as energy carrier for both high H2-storage capacity and high energy density.

(1)We develop the ammonia decomposition process triggered by the supply of only ammonia and air at room temperature on the basis of cold-start process for hydrocarbon oxidative reforming.

(2)We develop new catalyst for ammonia synthesis focusing the better catalytic activity under milder conditions relative to conventional Haber-Bosch process.

(3)The first-principles computer simulation is extensively applied to analyze the catalytic ammonia decomposition/synthesis processes and to design new catalysts.
