Outline

Mitochondrion, an energy-generating organelle in a eukaryotic cell, imports its resident proteins from the cytosol to maintain its structure and functions. Besides, recent studies show that mitochondrial internal membrane structures are controlled by highly sophisticated mechanisms and that mitochondria are tethered to even a different organelle such as the ER, the entry site of the secretory pathways. The present project aims at elucidation of the dynamic picture as well as regulation mechanisms of the structural and functional network with mitochondria as a hub, using various structural biology approaches.
