Outline

We aim to create a “Poincaré interface”, which can highly efficiently and freely convert photon polarization represented by a Poincaré sphere to electron spin represented by a Bloch sphere, by combining electrically controllable electron spin and advanced photonic nanostructures. We will establish the fundamental technologies for next-generation communication and novel functional opt-devices based on an/the ultimate utilization of polarization. Especially, we focus on realizing the technologies for improving the conversion efficiency from polarization to spin and for quantum entanglement conversion, which are indispensable for long distance quantum repeaters.
