Development and Application of Chemical Probes for Dynamic Visualization of Biomolecules

Research Project Outline

Our goal is to develop rationally functional fluorescent probes for highly specific and sensitive visualization of biomolecules such as biologically active substances, enzymes and receptors, based on principles of fluorescence. To detect dynamic changes in activity or concentration of biomolecules in living cells, in living organs or in vivo with fine temporal and spatial resolution is a powerful fundamental technique for analysis of unknown life phenomena. This project aims at elucidating principles of fluorescence, developing and applying fluorescent probes, and moreover making them fit to practical use; we will pioneer a novel world in measuring and analytical technology.
