• Big Data Application Symposium

Outline

Message from the Research Supervisor

The JST CREST Program on “Advanced Application Technologies to Boost Big Data Utilization for Multiple-Field Scientific Discovery and Social Problem Solving” started in 2013, together with its brother CREST Program on “Advanced Core Technologies for Big Data Integration.” Nine research projects in the application fields corresponding to the Research Supervisor’s Policy were awarded during the first three years, two in the first call, four in the second, and three in the third. This research area consists of various research fields such as drug discovery and production process, forecasting of localized torrential downpour, tsunami disaster response and prevention, statistical cosmology on supernovae and dark matter distribution, personalized and/or precision medicine, pandemic prevention and control, e-agriculture for field farming, literature-based knowledge discovery, and spatiotemporal dynamics in development biology. We aimed to establish comprehensive and integrated technologies for analyzing varieties of big data according to the characteristics of the application fields.

In concluding the eight-year program in this coming March, we will have the concluding presentation from each of all the nine projects to share their research achievements as well as their scientific and technological ideas with a wide range of local and international scientists and general audience for further scientific and technological advances of data-driven sciences and technologies. We also plan to have a closed event with ERCIM* in February for technical discussion and future collaboration with European research community, based on our achievements.

We are looking forward to welcoming you at the online symposium.
