Message from JST President

This is the first New Year since JST started the "HAMAGUCHI Plan," which outlined the necessary steps for the revolution of JST. JST will play its leading role in innovation more actively than ever before. For this purpose, JST shall find personnel with high motivation and performance in a wide variety of fields both in Japan and abroad based on the 3 keywords – "state-of-the-art R&D project," "network-based research institute" and "co-creation of innovation for future."

The 23rd Annual EARMA Conference "Collaboration with Japan”
(Valletta, April 24 to 26, 2017)

The 23rd Annual EARMA Conference was held in Malta from April 24th to 26th, organized by EARMA (European Association for Research Managers and Administrators). EARMA is an European organization for professional development of research funding support consisting of research managers and administrators. Ms. Nakayama (Deputy Director, JST Paris Office) presented an overview of JST’s activities, including current trends of global activities focusing on Science, Technology and Innovation cooperation between Japan and European countries. Also, a pre-announcement of a new joint call under the EIG CONCERT-Japan program in the research area “Efficient Energy Storage and Distribution” was shared with participants at the Europe-Japan collaborative session titled “Collaboration with Japan”. This session was organized by research administrators from Amsterdam University, Osaka University, Kyoto University, Hiroshima University and Kobe University in close collaboration with the JSPS London Office and JST Paris Office towards the exploration of further possibilities of Europe-Japan collaboration in the fields of STI.
