Research Director: Dr. Yoshiro Hirayama
Research Term 2007-2012
Present day advanced information technologies are base on the nature of electronic charges or spins. On the other hand, a spin in the atomic nuclei (nuclear spin) is apt to hold quantum state long time due to well preservative nuclear spin coherence. Therefore, it is expected to be utilized for many applications including quantum computer. However, such application is limited due to the difficulties in its precise control. In this project, we will pursue the manipulating technique of the nuclear spins and ultra-high-sensitive NMR using semiconductor quantum wells and nanomaterials. The final goal is to establish completely new field of electronics where nuclear spins play an important role. This research will contribute to the innovation of the information and communications technology.
