Research Fields
Recently, the carbohydrate chain is being focused on as the third chain molecule following nucleic acid and protein. Actually, the post-translational glycosylation is essential to the viability of eukaryote. The structural complexity and functional diversity of glycoconjugates attract our scientific curiosity, and also make it difficult for us to study the glycobiology. I expect that the chemistry makes large contributions to glycobiology. Organic synthesis makes it possible for us to produce the carbohydrate chain we want, and also create brand-new molecules such as probe, marker, toxin, drug and so on. I want to provide many findings to glycoscience from the standpoint of a chemist.
