This project aims to create a completely new field of electronics where nuclear spins play an important role. Nanoscale and highly-sensitive nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) will be developed to manipulate electron spin - nuclear spin and nuclear spin –nuclear spin couplings toward nuclear-spin-based quantum information processing. High sensitivity measurements and appropriate nuclear spin polarization changes nuclear-spin-based measurements into a versatile and powerful tool that can be used to study spin features and other characteristics of semiconductor layer and nano structures. We will also pursue a high sensitive characterization including nanoscale spatial resolution and a novel NMR for non-semiconducting nanomaterials in this project.

Our researches will be done mainly in Sendai, Miyagi, Japan, in collaboration with Solid-State Quantum Transport Group of Tohoku University(http://quant-trans.org/jtop.html) . This project also collaborates with NTT Basic Research Laboratories (http://www.brl.ntt.co.jp/) for growth and characterization of high-mobility heterostructures.  A part of the researches, therefore, will be done in NTT Basic Research Laboratories in Atsugi, Kanagawa, Japan.
