Electronics has played an important role in constructing a modern society based on information technology through miniaturization of silicon devices, which has improved the operating speed and memory capacity of computers. As the "demand for computing speed" phase is saturating, however, global competition is moving on to the next phase, which demands for "harmony with environment and mankind." This project, instead of silicon based devices, aims to develop bio-harmonized flexible organic electronic devices that enable to monitor electrical and chemical information from the body and/or to be embedded inside the body for direct monitoring. Such bio-harmonized devises will be manufactured by making full use of state-of-the-art soft integrated circuits, improving both biocompatible "ink" materials and printing technologies and developing measurement techniques.
