Nonlinear Information Theory: Robust Information Processing Utilizing Noise

In the brain, networks of neurons realize robust information processing via highly irregular and stochastic activity of each neuron. In order to reveal this remarkable ability, I will develop novel mathematical theory for information processing using noisy nonlinear dynamics. Based on the theory, I will find a basic framework of next-generation information processing utilizing fluctuations and produce actual devices which process information like the brain.
