Research Theme
Analysis of pathogenic double-stranded RNA in chronic inflammatory diseases

Intensive studies have been uncovering that chronic inflammation is a critical factor underlying causes of worldwide epidemic of chronic metabolic diseases as well as Alzheimer's disease. However, to address critical questions concerning why and how inflammatory response is initiated, coordinated, and thus involved in the development of these diseases remain a great challenge. My research goal is to contribute to address these questions by especially focusing on endogenous double-stranded RNA (dsRNA). Through these analyses, I intend to comprehend molecular events related to dsRNA-mediated inflammatory responses to pursue novel mechanisms and strategies for new human therapy in chronic inflammatory diseases.
