Control of the mechanisms underlying chronic inflammation through epigenetic modulation of T cell memory
Inflammation is a primary defense process against various extracellular stimuli, such as pathogens, and environmental stresses. However, a state of chronic inflammation occurs, if the stimulation is sustained. Development of chronic inflammation is closely associated with the aberrant induction of T cell memory. Thus, we are examining functional roles of T cell memory in the development of chronic inflammation using epigenectic procedures. The goal of this study is to propose a novel therapeutic approach and a molecular basis for pharmacoepigenomics in chronic inflammation through epigenetic modulation of T cell memory.
