Kohsuke Takeda – Roles of mitochondrial sensing and responding to stress in inflammation regulation

Research Theme
Roles of mitochondrial sensing and responding to stress in inflammation regulation

Mitochondria are intracellular organelles crucial not only to the production of cellular energy but also to cell fate determination in response to various stressors by sending signals such as those inducing cell death. Mitochondria therefore appear to possess mechanisms by which they themselves sense and respond to various stressors. This research will explore the relationship between such mechanisms and chronic inflammation.
