Creation of Azoles-Based Orthographic π-Electron Molecules via Development of New Synthetic Reactions

Principal Investigator

Toshiaki MURAI (Professor, Gifu University)

Outline of the Project

White light-emitting devices are advanced technology and are applicable to energy-saving lights as the substitutes of current fluorescent lights.  To realize this technology, our approach is to build the molecules only with readily available elements.  To do so, we have added some special structural motif to new molecules.  With this approach, the molecules showing blue, green, and red fluorescence are provided.  In practice, new synthetic reactions, that provide desired molecules, with readily available starting materials without undesired wastes are developed.
