Disclosure of Research Results and Search for Promising Companies
Extensive and speedy disclosure of research results
By quickly disclosing a wide range of research results collected from universities, national and public research institutes, etc., JST's basic research programs, and research and development programs in each region, JST fosters searches for companies that are most likely to express interest in the research results.
* A Comprehensive database (J-STORE) for the utilization of research results.
(Including disclosure of information of unpublished patents [patents for which less than one and a half years have passed since the application date])
* Introduction and liaison with companies by experts with the experience of technology transfer.
* Disclosure of research results at "New Technology Presentation Meetings", "New Technology Fairs", etc.

"e-seeds.jp" is a free search website specialized for universities' technology seeds. "e-seeds.jp" enables to search by specifying keywords, regions and universities and to readily contact the researcher.

Formulation of Practical Application Plans
Formulation of the most appropriate plan for the practical application and cultivation of research results
Technology transfer planners conduct technology studies, patent studies, market research, etc. regarding research results with an eye to practical applications, and prepare the most appropriate technology transfer method (practical application plan) for such research results. In line with this practical application plan, if necessary, they also provide consultation and advice about the acquisition of patents, supplementing insufficient data, investigations into characteristics of products for universities, national and public research institutes, TLOs and companies, and recommending public invitation for research results that are suitable for the "call-for-type" program. Planners also give advice about individual technology transfers and support the process of technology transfer of research results.
* Supplementing Data
When research results show promise but are incomplete and still have a long way to go before reaching a level suitable for a start-up business, or are only one step away from moving to the cultivation stage, expenses for supplementing the data can be provided.
* Processing Technology
Processing expenses are paid towards research results that are expected to offer effective practical applications through the combination of one or more technologies or by investigating product characteristics.

Licensing
Bridge Between Inventors and Companies
JST licenses patented inventions which are derived from JST's programs or are entrusted to JST by universities and national and public research institutes to license.
In order to publicize information about these patents widely, JST operates a free database called "J-STORE".
Also, JST holds "New Technology Presentation Meetings" for the purpose of explaining patents by their inventors, and "New Technology Fairs" which provide opportunities to promote technology exchange on Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration.
